Private Rio Lagartos Flamingo Pink Lakes

Rio Lagartos Flamingo Pink Lakes

Rio Lagartos is a small town in the state of Yucatán, Mexico. It is located on the eastern side of the Yucatán Peninsula, about 50 kilometers from Merida. Rio Lagartos is known for its birdwatching and for having some of the best flamingo pink lakes in the world. In fact, it is said that these pink lakes are one of the most beautiful places on earth!

The pink lakes are an important breeding ground for flamingos, as well as many other species of birds.

Private Rio Lagartos Flamingo Pink Lakes is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

It’s a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that’s home to thousands of migrating birds, as well as crocodiles and manatees.

The town itself, which is about 500 years old, has both traditional Mayan culture and modern amenities, making it a great place for all kinds of travellers. It is a small town but charming. It has many shops selling local products like hammocks, pottery, and glassware. You can also find some great restaurants serving delicious seafood dishes like ceviche and shrimp quesadillas.

We’ll take you to the famous Las Coloradas or “Magenta Waters” , these pink lakes colored by the seaweed, plankton and shrimps, where you can learn more about its use by the Mayans. You will also have the opportunity to take a traditional Mayan mud bath, rinse at a private beach and enjoy a great seafood meal at the Rio Lagartos restaurant.

Flamingo Pink Lakes

The lake is situated on the eastern coast of Mexico in Las Coloradas – a tiny fishing village with a population of around 1,000. It takes around two hours to drive to the lakes from most nearby major places such as Cancun, Merida, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. There are also tours in the area, most of which end up at Las Coloradas.

Lakes are always pink, but when the sun is out, their color is stronger and provides a much better spectacle.

Can you go for a swim in the pink water?

The Mexican state has declared that no one may swim in the water at Las Coloradas, and most of the lakes are used for salt production and are fenced off.

Ek Balam tour:-

The archaeological site of Ekʼ Balam is a Yucatec-Maya site within the municipality of Temozón, Yucatán, Mexico. It lies in the Northern Maya lowlands, 25 kilometers (16 mi) north of Valladolid and 56 kilometers (35 mi) northeast of Chichen Itza. This site was once the seat of a Mayan kingdom.

In the late sixteenth century, Ek Balam is mentioned in a Relación Geográfica, an official inquiry held by the colonial government among local Spanish landowners. It is reported to have belonged to a kingdom called ‘Talol’, founded by an Ekʼ Balam, or Coch Cal Balam, who had come from the East. Later, the region was dominated by the aristocratic Cupul family.PORT THIS AD
